Our customer is a manufacturer of gun dog training aids and they were struggling with their unreliable motor-driven catch which was no longer fit for purpose. We were asked to produce a dependable, user-friendly and cost-effective method of operating a firing pin, which then launches a dummy for the dog to retrieve.
NSF Controls developed and tested size 3E rotary solenoids, operating on a spring-loaded plunger, as it had to withstand significant recoil forces. We also incorporated a release lever and return spring support to provide resilient mounting within the assembly.
The end result was a reliable, robust solenoid that could withstand the recoil force of the launcher without mechanical failures.
